In 2011, I founded Voluntary Benefits of New England with a primary focus on Employer sponsored, group benefits. Over time, an increasing number of group clients were seeking help for their family and friends.
This led to expansion beyond the group market into individual financial products such as Life, Disability and Long-term Care, with a focus on financial protection for individuals and families.
Over time, this Individual insurance planning became an ever-increasing portion of my business.
My focus on financial protection made Medicare a natural progression as clients began aging onto Medicare they reached out for advice.
A former colleague had asked me to assist him at his firm specializing in Medicare Advisory. This afforded me the opportunity to learn about Medicare while simultaneously supporting my existing client base.
Due primarily to logistics, I left his firm to start my own, focused on Medicare eligible clients primarily in the area north of Boston.
I work with individuals, employers, other financial professionals, civic and religious groups to explain how the Medicare system works.
It is my belief that any individual, 64 or older, should have at least a basic understanding of Medicare to allow them to make informed decisions regarding their health insurance.
Medicare coverage, when properly understood structured, can provide comparable, or better(!), coverage than employer based plans at significantly reduced premiums and out of pocket costs. and with the goals of maximizing coverage while reducing costs and on a group basis to save the company and employees premium dollars.
On a group basis this can save the company and employees significant premium dollars by voluntarily changing the census data.
