“I’m in”—It took Michael five seconds to decide that he would be a part of the opportunity when Bryan Herdt called and told Michael about what he and Jon Christopher were discussing. As a founding partner, Michael has been with LTCPG from the start. He has seen how the business model is working for Dunn Insurance Services and is actively recruiting other quality agents to be a part of this great opportunity.

Michael grew up in Seattle, Washington, and graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A in Business Administration and an M.B.A. from Lehigh University. Michael spent over 25 years in corporate America serving as the general manager of the calculator division of Texas Instruments, director of marketing for Motorola’s computer group, and finally as the executive vice-president, chief operating officer of a $60 million business, Infinity Systems.

In 1993, Michael left the corporate world and went into the long-term care insurance business. He wanted to make a positive difference in people’s lives, and long-term care offered him this opportunity. In 2005, Michael sensed that the insurance market was changing and explored the use of the Internet and multi-state licenses. Now, this is 95% of Dunn Insurance Services’ business. The Internet has allowed Michael and Mary Ellen to take advantage of the cool weather in the White Mountains during the summer and still keep their business going as in the Valley.

Michael has lived in the Phoenix area since 1988. His first wife died in 1992, and he and Mary Ellen were married on January 1, 2000. Between them, Michael and Mary Ellen have three adult married daughters, one married son, and two special granddaughters. Michael is a member of Paradise Valley United Methodist Church and is active in two BMW car clubs. Michael loves sports. He has been a season ticket holder for the Phoenix Suns, Coyotes, Cardinals, and Diamondbacks. Now due to big screen TV, he watches them sitting in his favorite chair—except for several Diamondback games per season. He has to smell the grass and hear the sounds of the bats and balls. His hobbies also include music, reading, and miniature airplane (1/48 scale) and car (1/18 scale) collections.

Traveling is another special part of his life. Michael and Mary Ellen try to take one major cruise a year. Their dream is to go around the world. So far, they have been to 78 countries as well as to most of the states in the U.S. Paying for trips is a great incentive to work hard.
